The RootLevel Labs Approach to Creating a Startup
Successful startups take a combination of the best ideas and the best talent. It starts with great ideas. RootLevel Labs has many ideas that have been developed internally that are waiting for developers to begin work. Close collaboration with regional and statewide universities is also a source for many startup ideas. Networking and dialog with like minded people can also be as source of excellent ideas.
Coming up with the idea is just the beginning. Whether an entrepreneur has an idea or an idea is generated internally at RootLevel Labs, the idea must be vetted to determine feasibility. Competition, ease of implementation, and value to the customer are essential elements in a feasibility analysis. RootLevel Labs has a team of experienced entrepreneurs, mentors, and advisers that can ensure that an idea can be the foundation of a successful company. We are technology people ourselves and have spent a lot of time working on startups. Our team is built of successful serial entrepreneurs and we can usually see fairly quickly the direction in which a small idea should be expanded, or when to attack a large but vague one.
The next step is assembling the team that can develop the idea and take it forward. RootLabs Labs is looking for developers that would like to work on projects that can eventually be the start of a new venture. The next step is to reach a demonstrable prototype where proof of concept can be demonstrated. Once proof of concept is achieved, the product is marketed to generate an early revenue stream. This is the point at which it is possible to secure financing and begin building a successful and sustainable company. This success will result in a financial return to the participants, job growth, opportunities along the way for students to participate, and eventually successful entrepreneurs that can begin the process again.
